The Jour­ney of Life

Who are you; What are you; and How do you Know?
These three ques­tions are posed by the first three Signs of the Zodiac.
In the Fire that is Aries you expe­ri­ence your Pres­ence; in the Earth of Tau­rus you expe­ri­ence your essen­tial Val­ue; in the Airs of Gem­i­ni you expe­ri­ence your Know­ing. So, what comes next in the Jour­ney of Life; what realm comes next in the Cir­cle of the Liv­ing Ones you know as the Zodiac?

Yes, it is that time once again to move deep­er and wider, to bring it all togeth­er, to gath­er togeth­er and weave togeth­er all that you are into some­thing more than all these parts and pieces of you…it is time to be whole. It is time to come “home” to Cancer.

It is from Fire that you find your Inspi­ra­tion and Vision, and in Earth that you form that Vision into Man­i­fes­ta­tion, and by Air that you Know and Under­stand. But here at the next turn­ing of the wheel you sense that this is not enough, because you appre­hend some­thing beyond ordi­nary know­ing. What do you sense? That you need to bring all of your­self togeth­er and expe­ri­ence you as you are; you need to weave them all into a whole one of you.

This is “The Way”, this is the true nature of you and in fact for the entire­ty of Cre­ation too. You are not bits and pieces, you are a whole being, a human being, and you will find your way to whole­ness through these realms of “feel­ing”. Yes, you bring you and all your myr­i­ad expe­ri­ences togeth­er by Feel­ing the whole of you.

The Way of Can­cer is to hold you, to embrace you, and to feel the Truth that all of Cre­ation came from, and it is made from, and it is held togeth­er as one by the One. You begin your own jour­ney to your cen­ter by feel­ing and find­ing your ori­gins in your imme­di­ate fam­i­ly. It is by Mother/Father, Sister/Brother, Grandmother/Grandfather, Aunt/Uncle, that you start your jour­ney of whole­ness. From this first cir­cle of fam­i­ly you will feel your sense of mean­ing­ful­ness and con­nec­tion to your­self and your phys­i­cal heritage.

From your fam­i­ly will come the famil­iar attach­ments to the cul­ture and life­ways that nur­tured and formed the first cir­cle of your sense of you. This is your first sense of ori­gin, your first feel­ing of home. But as you grow and expe­ri­ence the larg­er world for your­self, your expe­ri­ence of what is you will both broad­en and deep­en, so that it comes to encom­pass ever-widen­ing rip­ples of nur­tur­ing and mean­ing. You will through­out your life trim or alter some or even many of these “giv­en” roots of you, as you choose to align with oth­er mean­ings and sen­si­bil­i­ties that feel more cen­tered and truer to your jour­ney of becoming.

You will move ever inward as you equal­ly move ever out­ward until you come to where it all began. You will return to anoth­er famil­iar feel­ing, a con­stant, warm and lov­ing embrace, and you will smile because you sense that you are part of a much larg­er fam­i­ly. You will know that your pre­cious human life, and all oth­er life-forms too, that in truth the entire­ty of Cre­ation is held as an Ocean of Spir­it-Life-Con­scious­ness. Your home is in the “Stars”; and the whole of Cre­ation, of which you are a pre­cious spark of the Divine, that this entire Uni­verse is the body and soul of the one life that is the One.

You will know because you feel this, and it affirms and cel­e­brates your essen­tial kin­ship with all of life. Because in every speck and mote, in every crea­ture great and small, and in every plan­et and every star, all of life is held togeth­er as one by Spir­it. All these roots meet in the “Cen­ter that is Every­where, and whose Cir­cum­fer­ence is Nowhere”. All roots meet and join into one, because that is where we come from. Yes, if you fol­low your many roots, as you feel your way with these feel­ing-mem­o­ries-truths, as you go deep and deep­er, you will come to the very same cen­ter that is there for one and all. That is why, “We are all relat­ed” for we are all “ones of the One”.

We say to one anoth­er, “the heart is where the home is”. It is equal­ly true to say that, “your home is there, in your heart”. The Gift of Can­cer is to help you find your way to the cen­ter of you, to your place of whole­ness and truth.

Wher­ev­er Can­cer is in your own chart, that is where and how you make your way to what will hold you, embrace you and remind you that you are pre­cious. Each and every day you need to cen­ter your­self as you reach out to help oth­ers to feel cared for too.

This time of Can­cer is for you; it is a time of align­ment, cen­ter­ing and feel­ing the whole of you. And by this, you will also feel that deep, abid­ing and eter­nal love in which you live, in which you share your lives with one anoth­er, and by which you cre­ate this Cre­ation by and for one anoth­er too. You will know that you are here, you are sim­ply here, to care for one anoth­er as you are cared for too.

This is the mes­sage of Cancer:

Fol­low your Heart,

Love one anoth­er, care for one another,

And you will feel your “Home sweet home”.

I thought it might be use­ful to post a writ­ten ver­sion of my BlogTalk radio show of Sat­ur­day June 1. Here is, more or less, a tran­script of my talk:

I thought it would be help­ful to pause at this time, as we approach the mid­dle of 2019, and remind and reas­sure one anoth­er that we are indeed mov­ing through a time that is quite extra­or­di­nary (or extra-ordi­nary as in aston­ish­ing or shocking).

As I have been not­ing since 2008, we are going through a very spe­cif­ic peri­od (that con­tin­ues until 2024), which car­ries res­o­nances of what hap­pened in the 1760’s and 1770’s, and before that the ear­ly 1500’s. In each peri­od the Plan­et Plu­to was (and is) mov­ing through the Sign of Capri­corn, the sign in “Mun­dane” or World­ly Astrol­o­gy that gov­erns Insti­tu­tions. Plu­to rul­ing the Will, and the process­es of Alche­my or Spir­i­tu­al Chem­istry, also rep­re­sents the process­es of Birth, Death and Re-Birth.

This is why this time, our time, has the feel­ing of being like “The End of an Age”, because it is. The insti­tu­tions and hier­ar­chies of this world, those cre­ations we have made to meet our needs for our­selves, and for one anoth­er, are fail­ing. From the most inti­mate insti­tu­tions of fam­i­ly and local neigh­bor­hoods, to larg­er vol­un­tary groups and asso­ci­a­tions, from local to glob­al eco­nom­ic struc­tures, in the polit­i­cal realms, edu­ca­tion­al sys­tems, and spir­i­tu­al orders, wher­ev­er one turns there is a break­ing down of func­tion­al­i­ty and a loss of mean­ing that defines our time.

As I wrote in my fore­cast for 2019:

A new world is com­ing, but that requires that an old order give way. Of course, the fun­da­men­tal nature of what it means to be human, our needs for food, shel­ter, com­pan­ion­ship, love and secu­ri­ty are ever-present, but they are also evolving/transforming, seem­ing­ly (or actu­al­ly) at an expo­nen­tial rate, which is in large part due to what is known as “the sci­en­tif­ic rev­o­lu­tion” that began sev­er­al cen­turies ago.

Coper­ni­cus, Bacon, Galileo, New­ton among many oth­er “less­er knowns”, ques­tioned assump­tions passed down from time immemo­r­i­al. This quick­en­ing of the human capa­bil­i­ty to know and alter our world has endowed human­i­ty with pow­ers that have seem­ing­ly out­stripped our wis­dom to wield them, whether in Physics = Nuclear weapons, or Biol­o­gy = Bioengineering.

Much that was will con­tin­ue in some form of course, but much more of our social, eco­nom­ic and polit­i­cal struc­tures will be reformed/transformed into new modes of expres­sion, and they will cer­tain­ly be informed by new ideas (or old ideas renewed) and mean­ings. The ques­tion remains, will we devel­op enough wis­dom and humil­i­ty to wield our “ring of pow­er” (Intel­li­gence) with uncon­di­tion­al love and compassion.

What can one do, what can you do, to find your way in such a dis­rupt­ed world, in such a con­fus­ing time? I always say that we have been shown “the way” many, many times before. Teach­ers and Wise Ones have been shar­ing their Wis­dom since we “woke up”, whether that is 70,000 to 100,000 years ago, or much longer.  This is why the Ancient Wis­dom is found wher­ev­er you look, in what­ev­er time or cul­ture through­out the world, you will find in var­i­ous forms and guis­es the answers to your ques­tions. Yes, the answers are out there, as they are also tru­ly in your heart of hearts, in your high­er self too, and they can be found in the tem­ples of thought we call Phi­los­o­phy, Sci­ence and Religion.

Humans are human because we are Self-Aware, and we dri­ve our self-devel­op­ment because we are fun­da­men­tal­ly Sto­ry Tellers. We share our expe­ri­ences, our knowl­edge and exper­tise, and find that we are insep­a­ra­ble from one anoth­er. We are real­ly made of each oth­er; we are all in one anoth­er so that we are more of a “we” than an “I”. Each of us is made by and through our shar­ing this life with one anoth­er, in all our present-day expe­ri­ences and sto­ries, as well as in all our past lives too.

Of course, for each of us, we must come to know who and what we are in this life. For me, Astrol­o­gy has been a call­ing and a prac­tice, and it is cer­tain­ly a key com­po­nent of the Ancient Wis­dom, as it pro­vides invalu­able insight and guid­ance. As I under­stand it, Astrol­o­gy is a tool or path­way to under­stand­ing your “Self”. While many will debate about the “pur­pose” of life, and how one can mea­sure the good in any life, (as through­out his­to­ry and in many var­ied cul­tures, what is known as the “good life” would cer­tain­ly encom­pass a wide range of mea­sure­ments, and often in diver­gent cul­tures, hold rad­i­cal­ly oppo­site notions of “the good”). For me, as I have come to under­stand or remem­ber this, by observ­ing life, and study­ing phi­los­o­phy and the Ancient Wis­dom, because we are a self-aware spir­it, I believe we should under­stand that our goal is Self-Fulfillment.

The Twelve Signs and the Plan­e­tary place­ments in one’s chart pro­vide a map of your own per­son­al “con­stel­la­tion of pos­si­bil­i­ties”. Each Sign show­ing you, ask­ing of you, to keep striv­ing to mas­ter some qual­i­ty of being that will move you towards your greater self.

Aries = Self-Aware­ness (being mind­ful, present in The Eter­nal Now).

Tau­rus = True Worth or Val­ue (to expe­ri­ence true, Uncon­di­tion­al Love).

Gem­i­ni = Intel­li­gence (The capac­i­ty to con­tin­u­al­ly ques­tion and move your aware­ness to new points of view).

Can­cer = Roots and Cen­ter­ing, to find the Self at the Cen­tre, (and from this to know that all our cen­ters even­tu­al­ly meet togeth­er as one).

Leo = Self-Expres­sion, to stretch one­self into greater roles and stages of self-realization…to Per­form by releas­ing the authen­tic self.

Like­wise, we can be guid­ed by the Plan­ets, their place­ments and arrange­ments with one anoth­er as their inte­gral com­bi­na­tions with one anoth­er stitch togeth­er the quin­tes­sence, form­ing the essen­tial indi­vid­u­al­i­ty of each one of us.

More­over, in the day to day, as we encounter a world that is trans­form­ing before our very eyes, we can look to the mes­sages encod­ed in the ever-unfold­ing “Dance of the Plan­ets” to help inspire and guide us here on Earth.

Which brings us back to our prin­ci­pal con­cern for our end of an age, Pluto.

Plu­to rules the third prin­ci­ple in the Tri­ad of Spir­it. Uranus is the prin­ci­ple of devel­op­ing an ever-Freer Mind; Nep­tune is the prin­ci­ple of express­ing ever more Uncon­di­tion­al Love; and Plu­to is the prin­ci­ple of abid­ing in a tru­ly Cen­tered Will. Each of us is a unique spark of the Divine; each one of us is here to learn to use the pow­er of the will, the pow­er of con­trol, for ever greater self-con­trol. We are a spark of the Divine and at the core of us, is the holy of holies, there in our sacred center.

By your striv­ing to be guid­ed by this sacred cen­ter, oth­ers will learn to hold them­selves true to Spir­i­tu­al Truth, which is that every being is Sacred. You and they in turn, will take that sacred oath to nev­er tres­pass upon any oth­er, nor allow any­one to tres­pass or vio­late your holy of holies either.

So, what can you do, how can you cope when the world that was seems to be crum­bling before your very eyes? You must remain cen­tered and strong in the knowl­edge that we have been here before, and that the new world that is com­ing requires strong souls. This end is a begin­ning and it requires and calls out for Pre­servers, Pro­tec­tors, Trans­form­ers and Heal­ers. Your duty, as always is to Mas­ter your­self and then to help oth­ers towards their self-mas­tery too.

Then, mov­ing out­ward into your sacred unions, you can join togeth­er one to one, and one to many, and so com­bine your wills and become the change that will give birth to the New Age that is dawning.

The Path of Awak­en­ing 

When did you “wake-up”?
How do you know what you know?
What does it mean to be “Intel­li­gent”?
 

The sto­ry of Spir­i­tu­al Fire, the Light of Con­scious­ness, is found all over the world. Many, many ages ago the so-called “gods” walked among us. They came at the appoint­ed hour, for it was their hon­or and priv­i­lege to pass on the pre­cious Light of Self-Aware­ness. As it had been giv­en to them in an age long before our own, it was now their turn to pass this gift down to us; it was their sacred duty and hon­or to pass on the “Fire” that we know as our most pre­cious gift of self-aware­ness.  

Their names are numer­ous, but the sto­ry that is told is much the same around the world. We call them “myths”, these tales of Prometheus, Lucifer, Quet­zal­coatl, Loki and the Kumaras. The heart of this sto­ry reaf­firms and reminds us that we humans are part of a great rib­bon of Light, Love and Con­scious­ness, that stretches back­wards and for­wards, through Time and Space. All of Spir­it-Life-Con­scious­ness is on this nev­er-end­ing jour­ney of self-becom­ing, and one of the most crit­i­cal steps in that jour­ney was reached by us humans in this moment that her­ald­ed the begin­ning of our self-aware­ness. 

Their Light was passed onto us, and so they part­ly live on through us; just as you and I are made of one anoth­er too. In all the realms, from the phys­i­cal, through the emo­tion­al and the men­tal on up through the Spir­i­tu­al, through­out all these hierarchies of Ener­gy-Forms, you will con­stant­ly find that the great­est illu­sion you will need to break is the one which makes it seem as if every­thing is sep­a­rate and apart from every­thing else. 

The Truth is One; that there is but One Spir­it and each and every part of cre­ation is in some way formed, shaped, fash­ioned and brought into ever high­er self-real­iza­tions through the com­plex web of rela­tion­ships that form the entire hier­ar­chy of Spir­it-Life-Con­scious­ness. 

You cer­tain­ly have made you, but you are real­ly made and com­posed by a host of oth­ers too. From your par­ents and your sib­lings, from your class­mates and your col­leagues, and most cer­tain­ly by your dear­ly loved ones too, all of their feel­ings, thoughts and actions have become part of you, as yours has become an inte­gral part of them. We are all made of one anoth­er; we all need one anoth­er to be who and what we are, for with­out one anoth­er we would not be. 

What you know and how you know is formed by all with whom you jour­ney, in the present life, and all those many lives that came before too. You are made of all these sto­ries that we have told one anoth­er since we woke up. We told our sto­ries of where to find food, how to make fire, and how to avoid dan­ger. We laughed and cried, and shared our sto­ries and our love with one anoth­er. We made one anoth­er and are all in one anoth­er in large part because of these sto­ries we shared with one anoth­er. 

Yes, you and I made one anoth­er and this most cer­tain­ly includes our thoughts, our ideas, and that won­drous fac­ul­ty we call our Intel­li­gence. Many may think that Intel­li­gence is found­ed and formed by expe­ri­ence and knowl­edge, and so that the more you know, and the more that you can do is the way in which mea­sure how intel­li­gent you are. But this is not intel­li­gence at all. 

Our Intel­li­gence, which is an essen­tial part of our Self-Aware­ness, is one of the gifts we hon­or at this time of year, as we move through the realm of Gem­i­ni. The real essence of true Intel­li­gence is this: It is the abil­i­ty to con­sid­er the matter/question/situation or object being observed from mul­ti­ple points of views or per­spec­tives. It is quite sim­ply the facil­i­ty of your mind to move its focus around and con­sid­er what­ev­er you are try­ing to under­stand from more than one angle. 

I like to say that our aware­ness is like a light illu­mi­nat­ing the mat­ter before us. We shine a very bright light, and it seems we are see­ing so very clearly…but we are also, from assum­ing a par­tic­u­lar point of view or per­spec­tive, equal­ly cre­at­ing and cast­ing some very dark shad­ows of what we can­not see, of what we can­not know or under­stand. We are in fact blind­sided again and again by our par­tic­u­lar point of view. 

That is where “Intel­li­gence” comes in, and by it we are able to move our mind’s eye around to con­sid­er mat­ters from over here, and then over there, from above and below (and even from inside), and in so doing we slow­ly but sure­ly elim­i­nate the shad­ows and come to a more com­plete know­ing. 

When we are shad­owed, we often become stuck. The issue or chal­lenge seems almost bina­ry, there is only “this way” or “that way” to address the issue, and often nei­ther of them are “good”. But when we break out of our self-cast shad­ows and move our mind by intel­li­gence to con­sid­er mat­ters from many angles, often the prob­lem goes away or an ele­gant solu­tion is revealed. 

This is the Gift of Gem­i­ni, the gift of curios­i­ty, the adept­ness formed by being contrary and think­ing “out­side the ordi­nary”, the essen­tial need of an awak­ened mind to Ques­tion everything…it is the Gift of Intel­li­gence and it one of the prin­ci­ple instru­ments that dri­ve your sto­ry of the Self-That-Is-Becom­ing. 

We all have Gem­i­ni in us; some­where in your nature there is that need to ques­tion, to not set­tle for the ordi­nary or expect­ed point of view; to con­sid­er a mat­ter from a dif­fer­ent angle; to adopt a point of view and debate the issue, and then, to turn “on a dime” and be able to argue the exact oppo­site point of view too. That is what Gem­i­ni and your Intel­li­gence is about; what a gift of spir­it to be open to the won­der of it all. 

This is the time to cel­e­brate Gem­i­ni. To ask why, and why not. 

The abil­i­ty to hold two, exact­ly oppo­site points of view, and then some­how to find anoth­er. 

It is the gift of Intel­li­gence, and it is the key to your awak­en­ing.

The Source of Value

What is the val­ue of you?
How do you find the way to your measure?
Do you under­stand what makes you “you”?

The Spir­i­tu­al approach to under­stand­ing these (and many oth­er pro­found ques­tions) will inevitably lead you upon a “rad­i­cal jour­ney of dis­cov­ery”, (“rad­i­cal” because the heart and true mean­ing of “rad­i­cal” means going to the “ori­gin”, so that such a jour­ney takes you to “the root of one and All”). All Spir­i­tu­al dis­cov­ery, any true Awak­en­ing will bring you clos­er to the core of the your­self, and like­wise to the heart of every­thing else too.

Because it is here, at the “Cen­ter that is Every­where, and whose Cir­cum­fer­ence is Nowhere”, it is here at the Root of all, that you will find the answer to the fun­da­men­tal ques­tion of what is behind all of “THAT”, and so equal­ly what makes you “you”.

You will under­stand the Truth of where you come from, and you will smile, because you know and you feel this to be true, in your mind and in your heart, as it is lov­ing­ly affirmed by the gen­tle whis­pers of your own High­er Self. You will feel and know, that this truth is so sim­ple yet so utter­ly pro­found, that the entire Uni­verse is sim­ply the One.

That Spir­it or the One is the source of all Light and Love, and it shines through the entire­ty of Cre­ation, from the most infin­i­tes­i­mal to the great­est of beings. This Light and Love is found in the core or heart of every speck and mote, of each and every par­ti­cle and being, on up to the great­est lords form­ing every plan­et, star and galaxy too.

This is Truth: The Whole of Cre­ation is Alive and Con­scious, for it is quite sim­ply the body, heart, mind and all-encom­pass­ing spir­it of the One.

Yes, the Truth shines through all this Uni­verse, and you will know and feel this because you and the All are insep­a­ra­ble from one anoth­er; just as you are each one of many ones, and each of you are inti­mate­ly and inte­gral­ly made of and by one anoth­er too.

You are not a “thing”; you are a field of Ener­gy-Forms; a Hier­ar­chy of Spir­it-Mat­ter. You live in the Truth that behind the phe­nom­e­na of all the realms of life, behind all of this, is the Val­ue behind all of “That”. What holds the whole of Cre­ation togeth­er as One, what gives Life to the many that form Life-Spir­it Con­scious­ness, is pure­ly and sim­ply the Uncon­di­tion­al Love of the One.

Today you begin the month of Tau­rus, and some­where in your chart you have some part of you that res­onates with this fun­da­men­tal truth car­ried by Tau­rus. The les­son and strength of Tau­rus is found­ed upon this immor­tal truth of your worth…that your val­ue is tru­ly beyond mea­sure, you are “price­less”. Because you (and quite frankly all) of cre­ation are formed from and by the very essence of the One, you are for­ev­er one with Spirit.

But of course, the ordi­nary expe­ri­ence of your val­ue will vary con­sid­er­ably from day to day and year after year. Some days you feel on top of the world, and on some you may feel as if the world is on top of you! Regard­less, even as the arc of your life and the val­ue of you wax­es and wanes it will sure­ly bend towards the inevitable, as the phys­i­cal strength of youth will yield to the gifts of spir­i­tu­al wis­dom as you age.

Indeed, this very arc of your life, of pow­ers wax­ing then wan­ing, brings the fun­da­men­tal truth home to you, that you will only find ever­last­ing peace in the val­ue that will nev­er diminish.

In the very heart of you, you remain as you will always be, the source of all mea­sure, beyond all mea­sure. Yes, you are human now, but that is mere­ly the form of your self-real­iza­tion at this point in your nev­er-end­ing jour­ney. You are a spark of the Divine who is on a nev­er-end­ing jour­ney of the “Self-That Is Becom­ing”. You are a mon­ad, an unfold­ing Spir­i­tu­al Fire of Life-Spirit-Consciousness.

Yes, it is in Tau­rus that you appre­ci­ate the Divine made real, the infi­nite poten­tial of Spir­it made to shine in the flow­ers and trees, in the oceans and moun­tains, in the moon and the stars…and in you.

Behind it all, shin­ing through one and through all,

Is pure, uncon­di­tion­al love.
