The Gateway to Peace

There are many ways to under­stand the inter­re­la­tion­ships between the Twelve Signs of the Zodi­ac, whether you approach them by their ele­ment of Fire, Earth, Air and Water, or by their modal­i­ties of Car­di­nal, Fixed or Mutable.

By whichev­er man­ner you approach the Cir­cle of the Liv­ing Ones, we need to see them, as we are too, as “ones of the One”, so that we can only under­stand them by a holis­tic approach, to see each of them as com­bin­ing togeth­er to form the warp and weft of Cre­ation, the shapers and for­m­ers of the one Life of Spirit.

Today we move into the sec­ond of the Earth Signs, and the sec­ond of the Muta­ble Signs, and at this time of the year, and for­ev­er some­where in your chart, you will expe­ri­ence the gifts of Vir­go, which holds one of the most essen­tial trea­sures of Spir­it. It is by Vir­go that we move into a more per­fect real­iza­tion of our essen­tial nature, and we secure for our­selves the bless­ing of bless­ings, the great­est of gifts, which is to be at peace.

The essen­tial root nature of Spir­it is the quin­tes­sen­tial qual­i­ty of “self-becom­ing”, which means that each and every mon­ad of spir­it, whether it be an atom, a mol­e­cule, a being like you and me, a plan­et or a star, indeed the entire­ty of the Cos­mos is on a great jour­ney of self-real­iza­tion, of unfold­ing, of becom­ing and so being the One made man­i­fest. All of Cre­ation is alive and filled with the Light Divine; the whole Cos­mos is shin­ing. Form­ing the heart of every par­ti­cle of Cre­ation is the Divine Tri­ad, and it is this which dri­ves all the hosts of mon­ads to move upwards through the hier­ar­chy of Cre­ation, because all are formed and forged by what we know as Spirit-Life-Consciousness.

After all your stretch­ing and striv­ing in Leo, after you were inspired by being cen­tered upon and feel­ing your true self in Can­cer, you had to go out, to fol­low your heart, you had to take a chance, to lead and to love, to stretch your­self through new roles and per­form upon bet­ter stages of self-real­iza­tion. But now, after your “per­for­mances”, there comes the need to adjust and refine, to learn how to do bet­ter, to be bet­ter, to improve your­self through the gift that Vir­go offers you now.

You will always be “a work in progress”, but you must remem­ber that your High­er Self nev­er left what you call “heav­en”, and that is why you will always find guid­ance and inspi­ra­tion from with­in as you make your way through the many ages and lives of your jour­ney, ris­ing from pupil, to appren­tice, to adept, to even­tu­al mas­tery of your human form.

You are a micro­cosm of the cos­mos, and just as there is a hier­ar­chy in Cre­ation, of many forms or realms of being, you too are formed by many vehi­cles, many “bod­ies”, all of which stand at their very own sta­tions of spir­i­tu­al devel­op­ment too.

The fun­da­men­tal ques­tion will always be there, “what you are here for, and what is the whole pur­pose behind our human jour­ney?” The answer is actu­al­ly very sim­ple, “you are here to become a more com­plete human”. And to do this Great Work, you will strive through and inte­grate all of your vehi­cles, in your phys­i­cal body, by your emo­tion­al body, through your men­tal body, and abid­ing in your high­er tri­ad of spir­it, you will work with them all so that you might lift them all up to a high­er lev­el of self-fulfillment.

Vir­go is very much like, but also very dif­fer­ent from Gem­i­ni, for both of them are ruled by the plan­et Mer­cury, the ruler of the mind. Gem­i­ni brings the gift of a being able to con­sid­er mul­ti­ple points of view, of being thrilled and delight­ed by our won­der­ous tal­ent for ques­tion­ing and re-ques­tion­ing, of fram­ing and refram­ing our points of view. By Gem­i­ni, you are able to look at your world with “the eyes of a child”, as you won­der and expe­ri­ence it all from a mul­ti­tude of approach­es and angles, as you mar­vel at the mir­a­cle that is Creation.

But in Vir­go, we use our Mer­cury-mind to find the most ele­gant, ver­sa­tile, and mean­ing­ful way in which to under­stand our­selves and our world. With Vir­go we are able to engage our fac­ul­ties of Crit­i­cism, Dis­cern­ment and Dis­crim­i­na­tion. We focus our atten­tion, observ­ing the intri­ca­cies, inter­con­nec­tions, and the many lay­ers and count­less forms of our­selves and the count­less realms of Cre­ation. And by see­ing all the many forms clear­ly, and by dis­cern­ing all their mul­ti­ple con­nec­tions with and to one anoth­er, we are able weave our under­stand­ing of the greater whole into the One. Where in Gem­i­ni we seek to fol­low our insa­tiable curios­i­ty, in Vir­go we bring to bear our mind’s gift for exact­ing analy­sis and refine­ment so that we might improve our­selves and live in beauty.

Yes, it is in this time of Vir­go, or wher­ev­er Vir­go is found in your chart, that you can have a deep and focal pres­ence of your body, mind, and spir­it, and it is by this that you will become bet­ter, become clear­er, become more of an adept, and so more per­fect in your thoughts and actions too.

Take some time now to pause and to con­sid­er, to clear­ly dis­cern what was and what may be, so that you may learn how to “do bet­ter and be bet­ter” each and every day. This is a time-hon­ored prac­tice among many who are on the path of spir­i­tu­al self-improve­ment, in that you should pre­pare for each day ahead by care­ful­ly con­sid­er­ing what lies before you; and then, at the close of each day, you should exam­ine how you fared and how you might do bet­ter next time.

By this and oth­er means, you will walk the “mid­dle path” and stay upon the path of Truth and Beau­ty. The way to peace and hap­pi­ness is not to be found by going to some place, it is made by your own efforts to align your­self with your high­er self so as to be at peace and by help­ing oth­ers too, for Vir­go is also the sign of Service.

A good life is a beau­ti­ful life, and this is made pos­si­ble by the qual­i­ty and state of your thoughts. The whole pur­pose of meta­phys­i­cal, spir­i­tu­al, and philo­soph­i­cal teach­ings is to help you find the way to Peace and Happiness.

The gifts that are held by Vir­go will help you to form a sacred tem­ple of your Mind. When the path of Wis­dom is fol­lowed, forged by the del­i­cate and inte­gral bal­ance of your Intu­ition and Rea­son, you will achieve a lov­ing-know­ing, a mind that is lucid, self-crit­i­cal and joy­ful­ly open to the ever-unfold­ing jour­ney of Spirit-Life-Consciousness.
