The Path\u00adway to Perfection <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sun stands still. That is what the word sol\u00adstice means. In ancient times, peo\u00adple stopped what\u00adev\u00ader they were doing, as they watched and wait\u00aded. Would the dark\u00adness pre\u00advail or would the light return? Would their hopes be dashed, or their faith restored? They wait\u00aded for a sign, for the promise of light and love to return to Earth.<\/p>\n

We have reached anoth\u00ader turn\u00ading in the Astro\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal cal\u00aden\u00addar. Four moments each year when we seek to under\u00adstand the great turn\u00adings, and we know and under\u00adstand them as the Four Ques\u00adtions of life, \u201cWho am I, and who are you, where do I come from, and where am I going\u201d. These are the noble \u201cFour Direc\u00adtions\u201d, the \u201cFour Cor\u00adners of Life\u201d, and you should at this most sacred time of the year con\u00adsid\u00ader them all as you con\u00adsid\u00ader the path that you are on today.<\/p>\n

Yes, you are at a turn\u00ading point, and the only ques\u00adtion is, \u201cwhich way should I go, what path is right for me, what is my Destiny?\u201d<\/p>\n

The hid\u00adden mes\u00adsage behind the realm of Capri\u00adcorn is often said to be that \u201cChar\u00adac\u00adter is Des\u00adtiny\u201d. But for those who under\u00adstand the true pur\u00adpose behind our lives, we can reverse this phrase and say equal\u00adly that our \u201cDes\u00adtiny is Character\u201d.<\/p>\n

The tru\u00adism that \u201cChar\u00adac\u00adter is Des\u00adtiny\u201d is an ancient and holy under\u00adstand\u00ading about the jour\u00adney of the human spir\u00adit. More recent\u00adly, it was attrib\u00aduted to the philoso\u00adpher Her\u00ada\u00adcli\u00adtus of Eph\u00adesus who lived between 540\u2013480 BC<\/span>. His keen\u00adest obser\u00adva\u00adtion, which is very much in keep\u00ading with one of his con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adraries, the Bud\u00addha, is that \u201c\u2026Every\u00adthing flows, every\u00adthing is in con\u00adstant flux and move\u00adment, noth\u00ading is abid\u00ading. There\u00adfore, we can\u00adnot step twice into the same riv\u00ader. When I step into the riv\u00ader for the sec\u00adond time, nei\u00adther I nor the riv\u00ader are the same\u2026\u201d. This is a restate\u00adment of the Ancient Wis\u00addom, that behind all of Cre\u00adation is the eter\u00adnal Spir\u00adit which ever strives to be and become, mov\u00ading in and out of forms, the pro\u00adtean spir\u00adit of Spir\u00adi\u00adtu\u00adal Alche\u00admy behind the mys\u00adtery of Creation.<\/p>\n

But what Her\u00ada\u00adcli\u00adtus also said was that \u201cour char\u00adac\u00adter is our fate\u201d, that our char\u00adac\u00adter or our lev\u00adel of devel\u00adop\u00adment cre\u00adates the kind of life we will live and so forms our des\u00adtiny. With regards to the Ancient Wis\u00addom, what this means is to the extent you have become more self-mas\u00adter\u00adful, that you have achieved a greater under\u00adstand\u00ading of your own true self and so equal\u00adly of the world around you, then to that extent your life becomes more aligned with your true spir\u00adi\u00adtu\u00adal nature.<\/p>\n

By the gift of self-aware\u00adness, by this pre\u00adcious gift that makes pos\u00adsi\u00adble the evo\u00adlu\u00adtion and \u201cdevel\u00adop\u00adment of char\u00adac\u00adter\u201d, we see that an indi\u00advid\u00adual is no longer sub\u00adject to being seized and dri\u00adven by uncon\u00adtrolled pas\u00adsions from with\u00adin, nor are they cap\u00adtured by the dis\u00adsi\u00adpat\u00ading attrac\u00adtions from the world around them. By this ris\u00ading light of con\u00adscious\u00adness, an indi\u00advid\u00adual on the path of awak\u00aden\u00ading is no longer the pawn of \u201cthe fates\u201d, no longer held in chains by the per\u00adfect\u00adly equi\u00adtable but mind\u00adless action\/reaction of the ordi\u00adnary life. Instead, they have become a mem\u00adber in a great com\u00adpa\u00adny of souls, they have become anoth\u00ader self-direct\u00aded aspi\u00adrant on the Path\u00adway of Perfection.<\/em><\/p>\n

But this is also why those who have come in any life to that turn\u00ading point or por\u00adtal that divides the more fat\u00aded from those of freer wills, and who by mak\u00ading this choice to take the steep\u00ader path of self-quick\u00aden\u00ading, so that their life and pur\u00adpose becomes ever more firm\u00adly focused upon self-mas\u00adtery and wis\u00addom, which will bend their life increas\u00ading\u00adly towards a path of self\u00adless ser\u00advice, com\u00adpas\u00adsion, and love, that it is by this lov\u00ading choice of faith over fear that they will tru\u00adly under\u00adstand that our \u201cDes\u00adtiny is Char\u00adac\u00adter\u201d. But what does that mean?<\/p>\n

Humans have dis\u00adcussed, debat\u00aded, and argued as to what is our des\u00adtiny, of what is the true pur\u00adpose and mean\u00ading behind our life here on Earth, of what pur\u00adpose are we made for or des\u00adtined to be. For those who study the great works of Ancient Wis\u00addom, or equal\u00adly observe the great souls in action, they under\u00adstand and know that our pur\u00adpose and des\u00adtiny is quite sim\u00adple, real\u00adly; we are here for one pur\u00adpose, which is \u201cto become a bet\u00adter human\u201d, and even\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adly become a com\u00adplete human.<\/p>\n

How do we do this? By using all our fac\u00adul\u00adties of body, feel\u00ading, mind and spir\u00adit; by learn\u00ading through tri\u00adal and error, by striv\u00ading and fail\u00ading and try\u00ading again. It is by this slow, steady climb up what we might imag\u00adine is the moun\u00adtain that is life, it is by this that we will slow\u00adly raise our\u00adselves up as we learn what not to do and so how to be better.<\/p>\n

This is the les\u00adson and gift of Capri\u00adcorn, that the most pre\u00adcious moments in this life, and in all your lives, are when you \u201cfailed\u201d; when you tried and fell short, but you did not sur\u00adren\u00adder. The spir\u00adit with\u00adin you did not dim; it grew stronger, more deter\u00admined, more pur\u00adpose\u00adful so that in the end you did mas\u00adter that craft, you did acquire that strength, you did find a way to not only know the Truth (as in Sagit\u00adtar\u00adius), but you also felt a burn\u00ading light in your heart that your true pur\u00adpose was to live by Truth, and in fact to be this Truth.<\/p>\n

But what you have also learned is that every obsta\u00adcle you over\u00adcame, and in each chal\u00adlenge well met, is that your vic\u00adto\u00adry over fate and your devel\u00adop\u00adment of a freer will, was some\u00adthing that you did not do on your own or by your\u00adself. No, you are part of a nev\u00ader-end\u00ading Hier\u00adar\u00adchy, like a Rib\u00adbon of Light in Space and through Time, formed by all the souls above and all the souls below you, both here today and in the far, far dis\u00adtant past. Yes, you stand upon the ever\u00adlast\u00ading foun\u00adda\u00adtions built by all your ances\u00adtors, by all of humankind, and your pur\u00adpose now is to add to that foun\u00adda\u00adtion for those who will come after you.<\/p>\n

Our Des\u00adtiny is Char\u00adac\u00adter, as we are for one anoth\u00ader both pupil and teacher, and in every encounter with all whom you meet in this or in any life, is that you are to under\u00adstand that your expe\u00adri\u00adences with one anoth\u00ader are the very means by which each of you will forge a greater wis\u00addom that is revealed by your com\u00adpas\u00adsion and love for one another.<\/p>\n

At this time of the year, and wher\u00adev\u00ader Capri\u00adcorn is found in your chart, you are remind\u00aded that what you are today, and what you will be tomor\u00adrow is no acci\u00addent. You are the Mas\u00adter Builder, you are the pil\u00adgrim and the seek\u00ader, the teacher and the pupil, the child and the wise one too. And all that you do, from the sim\u00adplest of tasks, to the great\u00adest con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions and ser\u00advices you offer, all of it was part of a \u201cmas\u00adter plan\u201d to bring you clos\u00ader to your Destiny.<\/p>\n

That is why, at this time of year we give thanks to our ances\u00adtors; we bow our heads and bend our knee and pledge to one anoth\u00ader that the Light will not go out, not on our watch, not in our time. We will keep the promise, that we will take care of one anoth\u00ader, and we will con\u00adtin\u00adue to fol\u00adlow the path of Light that is the Hier\u00adar\u00adchy of Love and Compassion.<\/p>\n

At this sacred hour, in this moment when the light returns once more, we say:<\/p>\n

THE<\/span> GREAT<\/span> INVOCATION<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

From the point of light with\u00adin the Mind of God<\/p>\n

Let Light stream forth into our minds<\/p>\n

Let LIGHT<\/span> descend on Earth.<\/p>\n

From the point of love with\u00adin the Heart of God<\/p>\n

Let Love stream forth into our hearts<\/p>\n

May LOVE<\/span> increase on Earth.<\/p>\n

From the cen\u00adter where the Will of God is known<\/p>\n

Let pur\u00adpose guide our wills<\/p>\n

The PURPOSE<\/span> which the mas\u00adters know and serve.<\/p>\n

From the cen\u00adter which we call Humanity<\/p>\n

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out<\/p>\n

And may it seal the door<\/p>\n

where evil dwells.<\/p>\n
