I thought it might be help\u00adful, espe\u00adcial\u00adly for those who pre\u00adfer to read rather than lis\u00adten, to have a Tran\u00adscript of my com\u00adments on this top\u00adic on my lat\u00adest Radio Show:<\/em><\/p>\n

One of the more con\u00adse\u00adquen\u00adtial themes of human social devel\u00adop\u00adment through the ages has been the ongo\u00ading inter\u00adde\u00adpen\u00addent, ever-chang\u00ading bal\u00adance between the con\u00addi\u00adtions of Indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adal\u00adi\u00adty and Com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty. At var\u00adi\u00adous points in his\u00adto\u00adry, with\u00adin any cul\u00adture as well as between dif\u00adfer\u00adent cul\u00adtures, there has been this rec\u00adi\u00adp\u00adro\u00adcal bal\u00adance between the degree to which peo\u00adple are freer to express them\u00adselves as more indi\u00advid\u00adual, to dif\u00adfer\u00aden\u00adti\u00adate them\u00adselves from their var\u00adi\u00adous groups, and times when the larg\u00ader social order, (of fam\u00adi\u00adly, com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty, eth\u00adnic\u00adi\u00adty, and state) are able to more close\u00adly or nar\u00adrow\u00adly define and often cir\u00adcum\u00adscribe that indi\u00advid\u00adual freedom.<\/p>\n

In exam\u00adin\u00ading the cycle of Uranus and Nep\u00adtune, we can dis\u00adcern a rhythm or heart\u00adbeat of this cen\u00adtral theme of human devel\u00adop\u00adment. Their cycle of rela\u00adtion\u00adship is about 170 years long, begin\u00adning at their con\u00adjunc\u00adtion. The last con\u00adjunc\u00adtions were 1993, 1821 and 1650. At each of these moments an old order of the rela\u00adtion\u00adship between the indi\u00advid\u00adual and their \u201ccom\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties\u201d end\u00aded, and a new one began. In 2017 and 2018 and into 2019 we have arrived at the first stage of their new cycle, the semi-square or 45-degree angle, or what we would call a cres\u00adcent moon phase. The pre\u00advi\u00adous times we were at such a moment were 1845\u201347, and 1673\u201375.<\/p>\n

It is at such a time, at the cres\u00adcent phase of any plan\u00ade\u00adtary pair, when the emerg\u00ading new theme released at the con\u00adjunc\u00adtion (or New Moon) is encoun\u00adter\u00ading the counter-vail\u00ading forces of the past. It is very much a strug\u00adgle between a new way of being that is brought face to face with the fear\u00adful pulls and push\u00ades of the old order try\u00ading to restore itself. This strug\u00adgle between more indi\u00advid\u00adual free\u00addom and more com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty or com\u00admu\u00adnal con\u00adfor\u00admi\u00adty will play out dur\u00ading the entire 170-year cycle again and again. But at these par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar peri\u00adods or moments it will cer\u00adtain\u00adly become more acute. We are at such a time right now.<\/p>\n

When either of these ener\u00adgy-forms becomes imbal\u00adanced with the oth\u00ader, we either move towards extreme forms of inde\u00adpen\u00addence, (and break our bonds of fel\u00adlow\u00adship), or we bind our\u00adselves into indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adal\u00adi\u00adty-deny\u00ading forms of com\u00admu\u00adnal\u00adism, (which can or will lead to the break\u00addown in the integri\u00adty of each mem\u00adber of the group). There is a need for Life, for Spir\u00adit to find itself by being One and True, but it also can only do this by being part of some\u00adthing greater, of belong\u00ading and being formed by some\u00adthing larg\u00ader too. As I like to say, \u201cWe all want to be One of a Kind; but we also can only find our Mean\u00adings and Val\u00adues by being part of some Kind\u201d.<\/p>\n

The cycle that began in 1993 has now reached a crit\u00adi\u00adcal moment. It should be appar\u00adent and clear to many if not most peo\u00adple, that we are wit\u00adness\u00ading through\u00adout the world this high\u00ader ten\u00adsion between Free\u00addom and Com\u00admu\u00adnal life-ways, and it is rip\u00adping cul\u00adtures, eth\u00adnic\u00adi\u00adties, com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties and even fam\u00adi\u00adlies into ever more frag\u00adment\u00aded rela\u00adtion\u00adships and group\u00adings. You could say that the Cen\u00adtripetal force of Free\u00addom has become severe\u00adly unbal\u00adanced in its inte\u00adgral rela\u00adtion\u00adship with the Cen\u00adtrifu\u00adgal force of Love. The ego\u00adis\u00adtic, nar\u00adcis\u00adsis\u00adtic and divi\u00adsive ener\u00adgies appear ascen\u00addant; Love, sac\u00adri\u00adfice and com\u00admu\u00adnal\u00adism are in retreat. As they become unhinged or out of bal\u00adance with one anoth\u00ader, each seem\u00ading\u00adly devolves into a twist\u00aded or warped ver\u00adsion of its high\u00ader nature.<\/p>\n

In such a time, Free\u00addom becomes ripped from shared affec\u00adtions, becom\u00ading self\u00adish and nihilis\u00adtic; then equal\u00adly in response, the prin\u00adci\u00adple of Love becomes bound\u00aded by the fear of the unfa\u00admil\u00adiar, affec\u00adtions are nar\u00adrowed and retreat inward\u00adly to often anachro\u00adnis\u00adtic anchors like trib\u00adal group\u00adings based on \u201cblood and soil\u201d. The true com\u00admu\u00adnal foun\u00adda\u00adtions of our com\u00admon ances\u00adtry, that we all can trace our phys\u00adi\u00adcal and spir\u00adi\u00adtu\u00adal roots to the same cause, this essen\u00adtial root of us all seems to devolve, and the Cen\u00adter that is the force that binds the entire uni\u00adverse, true spir\u00adi\u00adtu\u00adal Love, that love can\u00adnot hold for a time and soci\u00adeties devolve into dis\u00adas\u00adso\u00adci\u00adat\u00aded groups, made of fear-filled group\u00adings, tribes formed upon fear, who look upon the \u201cthe oth\u00ader\u201d as the car\u00adri\u00ader of dark\u00adness, blame and fear.<\/p>\n

Yes, it would appear, if we were only to go by the head\u00adlines and news sto\u00adries, that the cata\u00adbol\u00adic forces of fear and hatred are out-pac\u00ading the one abid\u00ading, true and supreme force of in this uni\u00adverse, Love. But we need not, nor should we retreat or suc\u00adcumb to fear. Because we can also find com\u00adfort and reas\u00adsur\u00adance in our his\u00adto\u00adry. We can find inspi\u00adra\u00adtion and con\u00adfir\u00adma\u00adtion of our own respons\u00ades to this chal\u00adlenge by look\u00ading at what came before in a time such as this. Dur\u00ading the same moment in the pre\u00advi\u00adous cycle, dur\u00ading the 1840\u2019s, we saw the emer\u00adgence of new forms of con\u00adscious\u00adness and social organizations.<\/p>\n

In the USA<\/span>, the ris\u00ading tide against slav\u00adery, the cease\u00adless efforts of peo\u00adple and groups, find\u00ading com\u00admon pur\u00adpose and sen\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties guid\u00aded by love, flowed into the abo\u00adli\u00adtion\u00adist and oth\u00ader social jus\u00adtice move\u00adments that were coun\u00adter\u00adpoints to the ris\u00ading tide of anti-immi\u00adgrant fears and oth\u00ader ret\u00adro\u00adgres\u00adsive reac\u00adtions. These fear-filled and love-coun\u00adtered actions were fueled and fos\u00adtered by the changes in the econ\u00ado\u00admy and cul\u00adture, as the USA<\/span> steadi\u00adly moved from a rur\u00adal and agrar\u00adi\u00adan cul\u00adture into a more indus\u00adtri\u00adal and city-based one.<\/p>\n

You could argue that it is not unlike our attempt to deal with the new\u00adly inter\u00adcon\u00adnect\u00aded and fast chang\u00ading world of tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy that we are attempt\u00ading to deal with in our own time. But as Life equals Spir\u00adit, and Spir\u00adit equals Life, the one con\u00adstant truth in our jour\u00adney is this expe\u00adri\u00adence of change. What is not con\u00adstant or con\u00adsis\u00adtent is how we respond or react to this change. We all have a choice, to respond with fear or hope, with love or hate.<\/p>\n

Where can we find such stir\u00adrings that will to the right bal\u00adance of Indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adal\u00adi\u00adty and Com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty in our time? I would argue that it peren\u00adni\u00adal\u00adly emerges and\/or remains ever-present \u201clocal\u00adly\u201d. That there are in fact innu\u00admer\u00adable instances, sto\u00adries, and strug\u00adgles of love-formed efforts being made in local towns and larg\u00ader com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties to solve their prob\u00adlems in this fast-chang\u00ading world. Though we may look to lead\u00ader\u00adship from \u201con high\u201d, it is in these small\u00ader, more inti\u00admate set\u00adtings that our new world is being formed.<\/p>\n

Spir\u00adit fills the spaces that are in need of greater under\u00adstand\u00ading and kind\u00adli\u00adness. Each of us can do our part to right some wrong, to be more con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00adate of oth\u00aders and to help those in need. All these so-called \u201clit\u00adtle acts\u201d of love are the build\u00ading blocks for the bet\u00adter world that is coming\u2026for that world is com\u00ading through each and every one of us help\u00ading to make it so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
