Today was a very<\/span> busy day. Not only are we enjoy\u00ading the New Moon Eclipse, but sev\u00ader\u00adal oth\u00ader align\u00adments are also in force. The most sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant, Jupiter con\u00adjunct Uranus was the sig\u00adna\u00adture aspect for 2010. Now we expe\u00adri\u00adence their third and final con\u00adtact. What have we expe\u00adri\u00adenced in this align\u00adment; and what can we expect?<\/p>\n

Jupiter and Uranus come togeth\u00ader in a con\u00adjunc\u00adtion (like a New Moon) about every 14 years. Their rela\u00adtion\u00adship com\u00adbines and releas\u00ades the Uran\u00adian (unusu\u00adal, inven\u00adtive ener\u00adgies) with the Jupi\u00adter\u00adian (expan\u00adsive, boun\u00adti\u00adful ener\u00adgies). 2010 was a year that \u201cseed\u00aded\u201d new ideas and inven\u00adtions in the sci\u00adences and tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy. We will see these dis\u00adcov\u00ader\u00adies and appli\u00adca\u00adtions become more wide\u00adly expe\u00adri\u00adenced and trans\u00adform our lives over the next many years.<\/p>\n

If we go back and look at their align\u00adments, we can see this rhyth\u00admic release of inspi\u00adra\u00adtion play\u00ading out in our per\u00adson\u00adal lives, cul\u00adture and econ\u00ado\u00admy. For exam\u00adple, their con\u00adjunc\u00adtion in 1983 was accom\u00adpa\u00adnied by: The dis\u00adcov\u00adery of the virus that was the cause of so much con\u00adcern, AIDS<\/span>. The change of some\u00adthing called Arpanet into what we now call the Inter\u00adnet. Com\u00adpact discs are released, we\u2019re going dig\u00adi\u00adtal, say good\u00adbye to vinyl records. The FCC<\/span> autho\u00adrizes Motoro\u00adla to begin test\u00ading some\u00adthing called \u201ccel\u00adlu\u00adlar ser\u00advice\u201d. Humans \u201cleave\u201d the uni\u00adverse; Pio\u00adneer 10 becomes the first object to move out beyond our solar system.<\/p>\n

In 1997 we cre\u00adate life for the first time; through cloning Dol\u00adly, a sheep is made through genet\u00adic engi\u00adneer\u00ading. IBM\u2019s Deep Blue defeats Gary Kas\u00adparov; for the first time a com\u00adput\u00ader bests a human in a chess match. Mars Pathfind\u00ader lands on Mars; we have a rov\u00ading explor\u00ader on anoth\u00ader planet.<\/p>\n

In 2010, we expand\u00aded our def\u00adi\u00adn\u00adi\u00adtion of \u201clife\u201d beyond our car\u00adbon mod\u00adel, find\u00ading evi\u00addence of arsenic based life forms. We crossed the thresh\u00adold from manip\u00adu\u00adlat\u00ading life to cre\u00adat\u00ading it; researchers cre\u00adate the first total\u00adly arti\u00adfi\u00adcial and func\u00adtion\u00adal genome. We stare into the mys\u00adtery of cre\u00adation itself, and to the abyss posed by the mir\u00adror-image of our uni\u00adverse; sci\u00aden\u00adtists cap\u00adture anti-mat\u00adter for the first time.<\/p>\n

But that is not all, for Jupiter and Uranus com\u00adbined togeth\u00ader also speak to the quick\u00aden\u00ading in oth\u00ader impor\u00adtant aspects of our real\u00adi\u00adty too, like social and cul\u00adtur\u00adal changes. Since Jupiter rules our prin\u00adci\u00adples of rela\u00adtion\u00adship, its con\u00adjoin\u00ading with Uranus releas\u00ades new forms of social and cul\u00adtur\u00adal phe\u00adnom\u00ade\u00adna and there\u00adby cre\u00adates new realities.<\/p>\n

Tru\u00adly, we will only know in ret\u00adro\u00adspect how and in what ways Jupiter and Uranus moved our sto\u00adry along this year\u2026but they did, and do and will always be one of the means by which we grow beyond our mere con\u00addi\u00adtion\u00ading.
