To Become a Star

There are Four Cor­ners in your jour­ney round the Sun,
Four sacred turn­ings as Earth rolls and sweeps,
A dance of Light and Shadow
Sea­sons of birth, life, death, and rebirth
Spi­ral­ing year after year upon this liv­ing Earth.

The Sun stands still
and the world holds its breath.
Shad­ows stretch,
the light grows faint,
and we wait for a sign
a whis­per of hope
that life and light will return,
that our path will once again
be bright and beautiful.

Now, at the final turn­ing of the Astro­log­i­cal Year,
We cross from Sagit­tar­ius into Capricorn
It is a time to bow our heads,
to kneel in gratitude
for the Eternal,
to the ever­last­ing light
that shines through every one of us,
and through all the realms of Creation.

Now, at the wheel of life’s great turning,
We meet the Four Ques­tions again,
The com­pass points of every soul:
Who am I?
Who are you?
Where do I come from?
Where am I going?
At this sacred threshold,
Let these ques­tions be lanterns
As you walk your path today.

You stand at a crossroads,
The air thick with possibility:
Which way to go?
What path is right?
What is my destiny?

Capri­corn whispers:
“Do you know your Destiny.”
Those who understand,
hear the wis­dom of the ancients,
and know that “Char­ac­ter sets your fate.”

By word and deed,
you have made yourself.
Day by day, life after life,
you have learned from mistakes
by fail­ing, falling, ris­ing again,
by learn­ing what not to do,
and how to do better,
you have become a bet­ter you.

This is the Law of Karma:
the uni­verse held by cause and effect
and what­ev­er you sow, so shall you reap.

But what does this mean?
Your life is not fated
it is forged by you,
in the cru­cible of how you live.
What is before you today
was set in motion before;
the future you will meet tomorrow
is being made by your con­duct today.

Capricorn’s wis­dom is this:
You are responsible
for what you were
and what you will become.
Not fame, not for­tune, not power
but by remain­ing true to yourself,
hold­ing to the path of Self-Fulfillment.
Your worth is forged
by being a bet­ter you,
day after day.

As you mas­ter yourself,
As you come to know your truest nature,
So too does your life align
With the music of the light sublime.

Self-aware­ness is the gift divine
A flame that shapes character.
No longer tossed by wild passions
Or scat­tered by the world’s distractions,
You become a stead­fast soul,
No longer a pawn of fate,
For­ev­er a one of the One,
Self-lumi­nous seek­er on the Path of Perfection.

And you know this truth:
You have grown in stature
by a deep­en­ing com­pas­sion and caring.
Because you learned from your own struggles,
You tru­ly feel the suf­fer­ing and pain of others,
And your heart will shine ever brighter
With self­less love to help them too.

For you could not, nor could you ever,
Have done this Great Work alone.
You are part of a host of souls
Some here with you today,
Many more stretch­ing backward,
into the mists of long, long ago.
Like a great rib­bon of light,
All the souls who helped make you
Are with you now.
Part of your char­ac­ter, forge of your wisdom,
Bright­ly shin­ing in your com­pas­sion too.

This is why we give thanks
to those who came before,
To those with whom we jour­ney now,
And to those who will con­tin­ue this work
after our time is done.
You are part of this Great River,
a Hier­ar­chy of Life and Love.

As you reach up for help from some­one above,
You extend your hand to those who fol­low behind.
This is the way of Spirit,
This is the Truth of Love.

This is the pledge and pur­pose of Capricorn:
Our path of Fulfillment,
made pos­si­ble by the spark of the Divine within,
And the great work of Cre­ation made by us all, through love.

And that is why today we bow, give thanks as we pray:

THE GREAT INVOCATION

From the point of light with­in the Mind of God

Let Light stream forth into our minds

Let LIGHT descend on Earth.

From the point of love with­in the Heart of God

Let Love stream forth into our hearts

May LOVE increase on Earth.

From the cen­ter where the Will of God is known

Let pur­pose guide our wills

The PURPOSE which the mas­ters know and serve.

From the cen­ter which we call Humanity

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out

And may it seal the door

where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Pow­er restore the Plan on Earth.
